A couple arrested in connection to the death of a young woman in Likoni, Mombasa county, today failed to plead to murder charges,following the absence of their lawyer in court.
The suspects namely MC'DONALD OCHIENG OWINO and Alice Akinyi appeared before Mombasa high court judge, Lady Justice Wendy Micheni following the closure of a miscellaneous file that allowed officers drawn from the homicide unit to conclude investigations in relation to the murder of their victim.
The duo informed Micheni that they would not plead to murder charges in the absence of their lawyer.
Justice Micheni ordered the suspects to be detained at the Shimo la Tewa GK prison and produced in court on April 15, with the purposes of plea taking.
The two were arrested at their Uyugis home in Homabay county on suspicion of the murder of a 26-year-old woman in Approved area, Likoni sub-county in Mombasa County.
Jane Achieng Omullo's dismembered body was on February 8 morning found stuffed in a sack outside a rental house with some parts missing.
Some of her missing body parts were later discovered in kwale weeks after she was reported missing.
Other parts of her body are still missing to date.
